    SPRINGFIELD ó Barbara B. Rose, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at home.

    She was born March 2, 1920, in Yonkers, N.Y., the daughter of Philip and Marjorie (Shaw) Rose.

    In Vermont, she graduated in 1936 from Bradford Academy, attended Lyndon Normal School and Castleton Normal School, and then earned her Master of Education degree from the University of Vermont.

    In 1940, Ms. Rose began her teaching career that included teaching at Arlington School in St. Johnsbury, in Colchester Point, Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax, Johnson State Teacherís College and Springfield High School. After retiring in 1982, she was president of Vermont Retired Teachers Association and Windsor County Retired Teachers Association.

    In 1951, she was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, serving at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia and Air Command and Staff School at Maxwell Field in Alabama.

    She served on the board of Springfield Family Center, on the Springfield Planning Commission, and as guardian ad litum for Windsor County Family Court. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Springfield.

    Survivors include a son, David Solomon of Springfield, and a daughter, Deborah Schulze of North Springfield.

    The memorial service will be announced at a later date.
