SPRINGFIELD — Lanna B. Dexter, 87, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 13, 2013, at the Davis Home in Windsor, Vt., surrounded by her family.
She was born April 1, 1925, at the family home in Weathersfield, Vt., the daughter of Nester and Barbra (Kazonovich) Neronsky. She attended Springfield schools, graduating from Springfield High School Class of 1945. After graduation, Lanna moved to New York City and attended hairdressing school.
She was employed by Helene Curtis in New York City, doing hairdressing and cosmetics for many of the celebrities on Broadway. She also traveled to Chicago while working for Helene Curtis.
On July 17, 1948, she married Richard “Bud” Dexter in Springfield, Mass. He predeceased her on January 26, 1992.
After moving back to Springfield, Vt., Mrs. Dexter was a mother and homemaker, raising and caring for her family.
When her children were older, she was employed for many years as a teller at the Vermont National Bank in Springfield.
Mrs. Dexter was a longtime and active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and the Ladies Group at St. Mark’s in Springfield.
She enjoyed square dancing, was an accomplished seamstress and decorator, and enjoyed knitting. She sewed and knitted many items for her family over the years. Most of all, she loved and valued her family, holding many of the family gatherings over the years. She loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by two sons, Buddy Dexter and his wife Deanna, and Barry Dexter and his wife Becky, all of Springfield; one daughter, Patricia Livingston and her husband Neil of Avon, Conn.; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Olga Bedi of White River Junction, Vt.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by four brothers, John, Mitchell and Raymond Neronsky, and by an infant brother, Nicholas Neronsky.
Friends may call on Sunday, February 17, 2013, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Springfield. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield. David Shuffleburg will officiate.
