    Clifford T. Salsburg

    BENNINGTON — Clifford T. Salsburg, 65, of Rockledge, Fla., and formerly of Bennington, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Florida following a brief illness.

    He was born in Troy, N.Y., Nov. 29, 1947, the son of Clifford and Julia (Simpson) Salsburg.

    He was a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School in Albany and attended St. Michael’s College in Vermont.

    Mr. Salsburg served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, aboard the USS Alywin, a destroyer escort.

    He was employed at Johnson Fuels in Bennington for 26 years and most recently was a manager with Landscape Depot in Rockledge.

    In Bennington, he served on the Zoning Board and was a past president of the Rotary Club.

    In earlier years, Mr. Salsburg was an avid baseball player in the Twilight League in Albany and had calls from the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox. He also played softball in Bennington, enjoyed bowling, and was an avid reader.

    Survivors include his wife, Carla Salsburg of Rockledge; two children, Jennifer Dorr of Pembroke, N.H., and Michael Salsburg of Bennington; a stepdaughter, Jessica Nealon of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; four grandchildren; a sister, Diane Smith of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.

    Private burial will be at a later date in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
