As the month of February winds down, Killington is digging in for the last stretch of winter. With live shows almost every night of the week, this ski town gives music lovers the opportunity to discover bands we might otherwise never see in Vermont. There are of course other local venues, but Killington once again holds the crown for live entertainment this week.

On Friday night you can start your weekend off right by catching Andy Lugo for happy hour at the Outback on Killington Road. Lugo will be followed by local favorites, the Joey Leone Trio starting at 9 p.m.

Also on Friday, The Rezz will perform at South Station in Rutland at 7 p.m. The acoustic duo features the sounds of Bob Berardo and Brian Greenfield. Join them for live music and a bite to eat.

Duane Carleton will be at Franklin’s in Proctor for a 9 p.m. show on Friday.

Now back to Killington we go, as The Wobbly Barn hosts Modern Bliss, a five-piece cover band from Philadelphia for late-night Friday and Saturday shows.

Another renowned cover band, The Zoo, will be just down the road at The Pickle Barrel for 10:30 p.m. shows both Friday and Saturday nights. The group comes to Vermont for the second time this winter and was recently named winners of MTV’s Ultimate Cover Band. This high-energy performance is not to be missed.

Also this weekend, Sandy’s Books & Bakery on Main Street in Rochester continues its Cabin Fever Culture Bash. Throughout the month of February, Sandy’s has hosted a variety of live music. On Friday, The Babayagas will front an open mic. night at 7p.m.; interested musicians are encouraged to sign up on site. On Saturday, Spencer Lewis and friends will perform acoustic originals at 7 p.m.

The Wobbly Barn also invites you to see Rich Meyers for happy hour starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Heather Maloney Band will perform at Merchants Hall in downtown Rutland. The 8 p.m. show will highlight the group’s new album and Maloney will blow you away with her vocal range. Tickets are $8 at the door.

Duane Carleton will be at his usual Saturday night spot, The Clear River Tavern, on Route 100 in Pittsfield, starting at 9 p.m.

The Joey Leone Band will be at The Outback for a 9 p.m. Saturday show.

The Aaron Audet Band will once again rock JAX in Killington starting at 10 p.m. Saturday. Join Audet and the
Johnson brothers to dance along to your favorite covers.

The WonderMics will perform at Positive Pie II on State Street in Montpelier. The group takes the stage at 10:30 p.m.
On Sunday night, you can trek up the mountain to catch two hometown musicians, Duane Carleton and Rick Redington. Carleton will be at JAX for locals’ night starting at 9:30 p.m. and Redington will be just up the road at The Outback for a 9 p.m. show.

As always, please continue to submit your performance dates and times to localspin@gmail.com.
