    RUTLAND TOWN — Maurice Erwin Hawley, 90, of Rutland Town, Vt., died February 19, 2013, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    He was born September 7, 1922, in Rutland, Vt., the son of Arthur Wallace and Lucretia (Von Fintell) Hawley.

    Mr. Hawley was a graduate of Rutland High School.

    After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, he worked with his Dad on the family farm in Rutland Town until the 1960s.

    He later worked at Tambrands for over 25 years.

    Mr. Hawley was a member of the Mill Village Chapel and enjoyed the Chapel suppers, the Rutland Town Seniors and the Nut Club.

    He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Esther Hope (Taylor) Hawley of Rutland; a daughter, Carol Hawley Jules of Middletown, Pa.; five grandchildren, Chris Sprague, Kimberly Sprague, Jennifer Jules Fordham, Rebecca Jules and Ebony Jules; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Billings of Rutland; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by a daughter, Judith Sprague; a sister, Verna Sprague; and three brothers, Arlyn T. Hawley, Ira Hawley and Alfred Hawley.

    The memorial service will be held Friday, February 22, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Mendon United Methodist Community Church, with the Rev. Ronald Sherwin, pastor, officiating.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Mendon United Methodist Community Church, PO Box 1286, Rutland, VT 05702; or the Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.
