PLAINFIELD — Simone Antoinette Kitch, 68, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at her home.
She was born in Brandon Dec. 20, 1944, the daughter of Emile and Dorothy (Johnson) Racine.
She graduated valedictorian of her class from Brandon High School and earned her bachelor of arts in psychology from the College of St. Joseph in Rutland.
Mrs. Kitch was primarily a homemaker but had worked for the Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice and, later, for the Becket School in Pike, N.H.
She volunteered for Red Cross Disaster Relief efforts in Louisiana, Ohio and Vermont, and for the Humane Society in Barre.
She was known as an artist and she also enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, David Kitch of Plainfield; two sons, Aaron Johnson of Thetford and Daniel Johnson of Woodruff, Wis.; a daughter, Simone Stewart of Delaware, Ohio; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Armand Racine of Killeen, Texas, Maurice “Buzz” Racine of Brandon and Terry Racine of Leicester.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon, officiated by the Rev. Richard Crawley.
Private burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
