    SUDBURY — Charles E. Mulcahy Sr., 92, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

    He was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Sudbury, the son of John Lawrence and Rose (Tully) Mulcahy.

    He received his education in Sudbury and Brandon schools and later attended the Quoddy Program in Eastport, Maine, where he learned carpentry skills

    Mr. Mulcahy was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, served in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged in 1946.

    He married Barbara Louise Ketcham Sept. 8, 1947, in Whitehall, N.Y. Mrs. Mulcahy died in 2012.

    He was employed in dairy farming and also worked as a mechanic, tractor dealer and school bus driver.

    Mr. Mulcahy was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Brandon.

    Survivors include six children, Charles Jr., Robert, both of Sudbury, Pamela Ketcham of Brandon, Gail Blas of Dayton, Nev., Maureen White-Mulcahy of Palo Alto, Calif., and Michelle Goddard of Orwell; a sister, Theresa McLaughlin of Dudley, Mass.; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    He was also predeceased by two siblings, Joseph Mulcahy and Mary Engelhardt, and a grandson.

    Honoring his request, private funeral services will take place at a later date, with burial in Hill Cemetery in Sudbury.

    A gathering will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at American Legion Post 55 on Franklin Street in Brandon.

    Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Mary’s Church Renovation Fund, 38 Carver St., Brandon, VT 05733.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
