Town fire truck in fender bender

A Rutland Town fire truck responding to a call Monday rear-ended another car on the road, according to Vermont State Police.

The 1989 Freight Liner Fire Truck driven by firefighter Martin Wasserman, 63, was travelling in the east bound lane of Route 4 on the bridge over Otter Creek just after 9 a.m. when it collided with a 2010 Subaru Forester driven by Frederick Shenk Jr., 81, of North Conway, N.H.

No one was injured in the crash, police said, adding that the firetruck was travelling at 5 mph or less when the crash occurred. The fire truck received minor scrapes to its bumper, police said, while the rear bumper and hatchback of the Subaru were damaged.
