A late-winter snowstorm Tuesday contributed to a number of traffic accidents around Rutland County, Vermont State Police said.

The worst crash was in Shrewsbury where police said Donna Diletto, 61, of Doylestown, Pa., was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible back and neck injuries after a crash just before 4 p.m. Tuesday on Cold River Road.

Police say she was traveling with John Diletto, 66, who was towing a loaded snowmobile trailer with his 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. He lost control on the snow-covered road and crashed into a tree near Clarenbury Lane, police said.

An injury was also reported in a crash on Route 30 in Poultney where police said Patrick Fowler, 33, lost control of his 2003 International tow truck and crashed into a utility pole. Fowler, of Bomoseen, suffered cuts to his face but police didn’t indicate that he received medical attention.

No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Route 4 in West Rutland. Police said Alisa Hughes, 31, of Fair Haven was unable to stop her 2010 Toyota RAV4 on the slick road.

The vehicle crashed into the back of 27-year-old Millard Utter’s 2006 Honda Accord ,which was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection with Main Street.

Both vehicles were damaged, police said.

On Tuesday evening, police responded to another weather-related crash on Route 7 in Pittsford, where a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Emily Newton, 33, of Rutland went off the road and rolled over.

Newton, who was wearing her seat belt, was uninjured, police said.
