Esther Melen

NORTH CLARENDON — Esther Melen, 63, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 25, 1949, in West Lebanon, N.H., the daughter of Richard S. and Neola (Longley) Williamson.

As a child she was raised in the Rutland area, prior to moving to West Hartford and graduating from Hartford High School with the Class of 1967.

She was a military wife and had made residences in Hawaii, Texas and Virginia, prior to moving back to the Rutland area in 1987.

She had been employed as a bookkeeper for several small businesses in the Rutland area, including Dean Witter, and by John Trombley Construction Company.

She was a member of the All Saints Anglican Church.

Her favorite times were spent with her family, in her garden or watching the birds.

Survivors include two daughters, Victoria Henry of Morrisville, and Helen Buzzell of Pittsford; her mother, Neola Clay of Rutland; a sister, Susan Potter of North Clarendon; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life and memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Aldous Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
