    WEST RUTLAND — Harry E. Horton, 74, died March 23, 2013, at his daughter’s home in Rutland Town, with his family by his side.

    He was born in Mendon, June 25, 1938, son of Paul and Ruth (Gibson) Horton.

    Harry attended Barstow School and was a graduate of Rutland High School.

    He was a member of Vt. National Guard, National Rifle Assn. and Proctor Fish and Game.

    Harry enjoyed hunting, target shooting and NASCAR racing.

    He married Dolores (Smith) Horton in 1961. She died in 2011.

    Harry was employed by General Electric Co. and Chet’s Citgo.

    Surviving are two daughters, Christine Jones and her husband, Roscoe, of Ira, Darlene Horton of Rutland Town; a brother, Paul Horton and his wife, Beverly, of Rutland Town; a sister, Mary Ann Martin of Calif.; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Smith of West Rutland, Richard Smith and his wife, Ginny, of Rapid City, S.D.; three grandchildren, Christina Jones, Richard Jones and Chad Jones, all of Ira; nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by his wife; a son, Francis Horton, in 1969; a brother, Freeman Horton; a brother-in-law, Thomas Smith.

    A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.

    Burial will be held at a later date in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

    Friends may call at the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland on Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
