    STOCKBRIDGE — Shirley Blackmer Eldredge, 81, of Menig Extended Care Unit in Randolph, died March 18, 2013.

    She was born in Stockbridge June 9, 1931, the daughter of Gaius and Winona (Lamb) Blackmer.

    She graduated in 1949 from Whitcomb High School.

    On July 18, 1950, she married Glenn A. Eldredge.

    Mrs. Eldredge was a homemaker who also worked at G-W Plastics for a short time and then started her own day care for children.

    She was an avid Boston Red Sox and Celtics fan and enjoyed knitting afghans. She and her husband were well-known at area dance halls and they also enjoyed traveling to Florida.

    Survivors include her husband and a brother, G. Harvey Blackmer, both of Stockbridge; two children, Paul Eldredge of Quechee and Charlene Anderson of Barre; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    She was predeceased by a cousin.

    Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

    The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Stockbridge Meeting House on The Common.

    Burial will be at 10 a.m. June 8, in Maplewood Cemetery on Stockbridge Common.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Menig Extended Care Facility, PO Box 2000, Randolph, VT.
