I entreat the Rutland City Board of Aldermen to deny Mayor Louras’ appointment of Mr. Jeff Wennberg as the next commissioner of public works.

When Mr. Wennberg was mayor of our city, he supported wholeheartedly the Vicon incinerator project, not caring if the air quality of Rutland was compromised. In view of this fact, would he care about the quality of our drinking water should the level of disinfection by-products become an issue again in the future? (A distinct possibility.)

Yes, you can accuse me of jumping to conclusions regarding Mr. Wennberg’s possible future actions, but we Rutland City voters have decided we would rather be safe than sorry.

Please note: The three paragraphs above were written last week, shortly after the aldermen’s meeting on March 18. Today, March 25, I read in Mr. Dritschilo’s article that Mr. Wennberg would definitely add chloramine to our water, voters be damned.

Please vote a resounding no to a future P.W.C. Wennberg.

    BETH BARRA

    Rutland
