    A vote

    for Rutland

I have worked diligently for months crafting legislation which supports the wishes of our cityís voters by improving our neighborhoods through ending blight.

Last week I appeared on behalf of Rutland in front of the House Ways and Means Committee to present this legislation, coordinated with city officials. My bill H-417 was warmly received and in fact so well liked for the billís foresight that the committee included the language into H-528.

Wednesday the overall bill was debated on the House floor and I am saddened to report that I was the only member from the greater Rutland area who voted for a new vision for our city.

I encourage my fellow representatives to take a more expansive view and not just vote no to legislation which would help our city restore our neighborhoods, hence our grand list.

I am proud to have voted yes for Rutland.

    HERB RUSSELL

    State representative,

    Rutland 5-3
