    Gilbert Parker Sr.

    ALLENSTOWN, N.H. — Gilbert Parker Sr., 81, a longtime resident of Allenstown, N.H., passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

    Born August 19, 1931, in North Springfield, Vt., he was the youngest of eight children of the late Edward W. Parker and Una (Burditt) Parker.

    Gil attended school in Springfield, Vt., until he joined the Army in January 1949. He was honorably discharged in September 1952. He worked for Young’s Television in Springfield, Vt., for seven years after which he began his 33-year career in the telephone industry.

    Gil’s generosity and sense of humor were boundless. His passion for humor, along with his pertinacious personality, continues to live on within his children and grandchildren.

    Gil was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Phyllis, Doris, Dana, Norma, Calvin, Jean and Joyce.

    Gil is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis (Johnson) Parker; his son, Gilbert E. Parker Jr. and his wife Judi of Raleigh, N.C.; his daughters, Joyce Morrissey and her husband Patrick of Reno, Nev., Alice Brokos of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Janice Bonenfant and her husband Robert of Concord, N.H., Marsha Parker of Nashua, N.H.; his son-in-law, G. Philip Brokos of Windham, Maine; his grandchildren, Amanda, Edward, David, Shannon, Adam, Katie, Nick, Beth, Kim, Alex and Ali; and his great-grandchildren, Ari, Layla, Izzy and Nathaniel.

    The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff of the intensive care unit at Concord Hospital.

    A graveside memorial service will be held in the N.H. State Veteran’s Cemetery on August 19, at 11 a.m.

    Waters Funeral Home in Concord, N.H., is in charge of the arrangements.
