    Snowmobile time

    comes to an end

    RUTLAND — Vermont’s snowmobile season is ready to end.

    Today marks the official end of the season, but most of the state’s snowmobile trails have already closed.

    The U.S. Forest Service and the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers maintain 472 miles of trails in the Green Mountain National Forest, which are part of the statewide trail system. That statewide network has more than 5,000 miles of trails.

    Vermont National Forest spokesman Ethan Ready says it was a good season for snowmobilers in the national forest.
