In these days of staff cutbacks everywhere, I can forgive the Rutland Herald for the occasional spelling or grammatical error in reporting. But to misreport the news in the headline of a news article is truly unforgivable.

A front page article in the May 1 edition misstates what the people of Brandon had voted for on April 30. Although the content of the article was accurate, the headline stated the revote had been for the school budget when in fact it was for the town budget.

I’m a subscriber to the Herald because it has retained a good amount of local news content which is not available in other print media, but dumb mistakes like this are one reason that you sometimes hear disparaging things said about this newspaper.
