Germaine Duval, 90, of Rutland died Monday, May 13, 2013, at The Pines at Rutland Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation following a long illness.
She was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Chittenden, the daughter of Atlee and Albertha (Cox) Knapp.
She was employed as a cook at the Sager’s Nursing Home in Fair Haven for many years until her retirement. Following her retirement she spent many winters in Florida, where she was employed by Marineland.
She enjoyed sewing and knitting.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Aitken of Virginia, Barbara Ettori of Castleton, and Joanne Williams of Poultney; five sons, Bill Duval of Waits River, John Duval of White River Junction, Henry Duval of Rutland, Mike Duval of Vermont, and James Duval of Granville, N.Y.; a sister Elaine Stevens of Georgia; a brother Gale Knapp of Bethel; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Duval in 1981, a daughter Charlene Weyrach in 2008, and a son Charles Duval Jr. in 2000; by two brothers Atlee and Floyd, and a sister Ramona.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 17, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Castleton.
Arrangements are being handled by the Aldous Funeral Home.
