It is with a sincere sense of pride, humility, and honor on behalf of the Rutland High School class of 1963 that I offer my thanks to Peter Mello and the School Board, Superintendent Moran, and especially her dedicated staff for their totally volunteer efforts in putting together the Golden Diploma ceremony during this yearís graduation.

This year there were close to 80 of my classmates who were able to attend our reunion, and 49 who received their 50-year diplomas at graduation.

As one of our absent classmates aptly said, throughout these 50 years since graduation, she has not found anyone, anywhere that received as appropriate and thorough an education as she did right here at RHS. I know we all concurred, and, even now, I continue to be thankful for the excellence that our school system shares with my grandchildren.

Our reunion party at the Palms was a very memorable event and it was great to reminisce with so many of our classmates and relive some of the events of our past. Without mentioning any, since I cannot name you all here, I thoroughly enjoyed each and every encounter with classmates of wisdom, age, and dignity, who have done their alma mater proud with accomplishments given to their communities and families.

I will, however, especially thank two great gals who have been there from the very beginning, Janice (Duby) Sabotka, and Linda (Marshall) Scorbati, for their truly selfless organizational skills in putting our reunions together. Without such efforts these events would never happen, and we all owe you a debt of gratitude for the ongoing memories we now have of our friends.

So it is indeed a pleasure, as your class president, to say thank you to all of those who made 2013 such a meaningful year for our class.
