    Readsboro man injured in crash

READSBORO — An 88-year-old local man was injured in a crash at the intersection of Main and Tunnel streets Sunday morning, according to a press release sent by Trooper Robert Zink of the Vermont State Police.

Zink said Wilfred Rondeau, 88, of Readsboro, was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent when he suffered a medical emergency. Rondeau lost control of the car and it collided with a utility pole guide wire, causing the vehicle to roll over onto its roof.

Police were notified about the crash around 9:10 a.m. The investigation and response caused Main Street to be closed to a single lane of traffic for about an hour.

Zink said Rondeau was taken to North Adams Hospital in Massachusetts to be treated for a possible fractured vertebrae. The cause of the crash was medically related and no improper driver action was noted, Zink said.

Members of the Readsboro Fire Department, Bennington County Sheriff’s Department and Whitingham Ambulance Service assisted with the response.
