Congratulations to Otter Valley Union High School for their outstanding baseball season and state championship title. It was a magnificent conclusion to their season Saturday when they beat Burr and Burton Academy in the state finals at Centennial Field in Burlington.

The positive leadership of coach Tim Mitchell and his able assistants, Kevin Bedard and Jeff Jones, were a pleasure to watch. The Otter Valley players were strong in their baseball fundamentals, mental understanding of the right way to play the game and displayed sportsmanship throughout their entire 2013 season. The school and community’s fan base was among the best I have seen in years.

We are all proud of this 2013 season and wish the seniors continued success in their future pursuits. The players returning for the 2014 season will have much to look forward to as well as their fans. Enjoy this moment, as the lessons you have learned playing baseball now will prove to be assets throughout the rest of your life.
