    Police: Westside fire was arson

WEST RUTLAND — A fire that destroyed a vehicle on Pleasant Street early Monday morning was intentionally set, according to Vermont State Police.

Firefighters were called at 4:15 a.m. to 435 Pleasant St. Monday for a report of a car that was enveloped in flames. The fire was eventually doused but not before the vehicle was completely destroyed, police said.

Fire investigators with the state police, including an accelerant-sniffing dog, were called to investigate the suspicious blaze which was later deemed to be arson.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Arson Tip Line at 1-800-32-ARSON. There is a $5,000 reward for information resulting in an arrest.

Callers can also contact state police in Rutland at 773-9101.
