    Harry E. Lux Jr.

    GRANVILLE, N.Y. Harry E. Lux Jr., 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at his daughters home.

    He was born June 2, 1932, in Elmont, N.Y., the son of Charles and Anna (Lauer) Schaefer, and the adopted son of Harry and Eleanor (Labassi) Lux.

    He grew up in Jamaica, N.Y., where he attended Catholic schools.

    He joined the U.S. Army on Oct. 12, 1949. He served proudly in the 82nd Airborne Division of the Rangers. He did his training in Germany, and then was sent to Korea. He was severely injured and returned home in June, 1952.

    He married Marylee (Crosby) Lux on June 1, 1956.

    He retired from the New York State Department of Corrections, where he worked as a senior engineer for 20 years.

    He was a member of Henry Hose Fire Company for 30 years, and enjoyed all aspects of firefighting.

    Survivors include four children: Linda (Lux) Barker and Lisa (Lux) Bailey, both of Granville, Harry E. Lux III of Landgrove, Vt., and Frank Church of Connecticut; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

    He was predeceased by his wife, Marylee, on May 1, 2006, and a son, Edward Lux.

    A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y., with the Rev. Joseph Arockiasamy presiding. Burial will follow at Mettowee Cemetery.

    Following the funeral, a reception will be held at the VFW on North Street in Granville.

    Friends may call Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the High Peaks Hospice and Palliative Care.
