Woman denies cash, pills theft
BENNINGTON — A local woman was charged with a felony after a man said she took 145 doses of pain medication and $180 from his home on July 27.
Sarah A. Dommke, 42, was arraigned in Bennington criminal court on a felony count of prescription fraud and a misdemeanor count of petty larceny. Dommke pleaded innocent to the charges and was released without bail.
In an affidavit, Officer Amanda Thomson, of the Bennington Police Department, said she spoke with Forrest King, 62, of Bennington on July 27.
King told police that Dommke was a friend and she had come to visit while King also had relatives visiting that day. He said he walked his family out and when he came back inside, found Dommke standing in the doorway of his bedroom.
King said he told Dommke to leave but when he checked his room after she left, found his pain medication and some money was gone.
Thomson said Dommke came to the Bennington police station July 28 but said she didn’t want to answer questions.
