    Sunday hike

    marks battle site

HUBBARDTON — Outdoor and history enthusiasts can follow the evacuation route taken by American soldiers during the Revolutionary war during a guided hike, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Hubbardton State Historic Site.

Site interpreter Carl Fuller will help reveal the great distances soldiers covered in a short period of time during and after the July 7, 1777 battle. Admission is $2 for adults and free for children younger than 15. Hikers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring water.

The event is part of Vermont Archeology Month. The Hubbardton State Historic Site is the location of the state’s only Revolutionary war battle. For more information, call 273-2282.
