MONKTON — Vermont State Police say a horse suffered minor injuries but a motorist was unhurt after the animal broke free from its keeper and ran in front of a car.
Police said David Wood of South Burlington was driving with his wife on the Monkton Road in Monkton at 7:20 p.m. Saturday when his car struck a large horse that had run into the road.
Police say the horse, named “Dan,” had broken free from his caretaker who was trying to get him from a pasture to a barn for the evening.
Officials said the horse was bruised, but managed to limp his way home.
The vehicle sustained moderate damage.
