A few thoughts come to mind concerning the recent government shutdown:

    1. Are the senators’ and congressmen’s pay and benefits suspended also?

    2. Maybe the best way to resolve all the recent issues: Over the next couple of election cycles, anyone who is an incumbent is voted out of office. What a message that would send.

    3. Consider term limits. I think our elected officials would then really work for what is best for the country as a whole, rather than what works to get them re-elected.

    4. How does the Affordable Care Act affect their medical benefits? I would bet that they are exempt, and would still get the best of the best.
