    Two cited for

    illegal drugs

WINHALL — The Winhall Police Department investigated two cases recently which both unexpectedly resulted in citations for drug charges.

On Oct. 14, around 10:45 a.m., police received a report of a stolen stove from a home on French Hollow Road. While investigating the report, officers interviewed Brian Schwartz, 21, of Winhall, a tenant of a nearby cabin and found evidence of possession and sale of illegal drugs.

The next day, around 5:10 p.m., Winhall Police executed a search warrant at Schwartz’s home and discovered about 11 ounces of processed marijuana.

According to police, the marijuana has an approximate street value of $2,200.

Schwartz was arrested last week and cited to appear in Bennington criminal court on a felony charge of possession of marijuana.

In a separate case, Alexandra Thomas, 22, of Londonderry, was stopped on Winhall Hollow Road on Oct. 9, around 4:20 p.m., for a minor motor vehicle infraction.

Further investigation and a search revealed Thomas was in possession of heroin and was operating with a suspended license, according to police.

Thomas was arrested and cited to appear in Bennington criminal court for possession of heroin. She was also issued a ticket for a third offense of driving with a suspended license.

Officers with the Winhall Police Department have asked that anyone with additional information about either incident contact them at 297-2121.
