    Donald Edward Bordeau, 70, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    Born January 28, 1943, in Rutland, he was the son of the late Stanton Thomas and Ellen Dorothy (Chapleau) Bordeau, and one of five children. He was employed by Central Vermont Public Service for thirty-eight years as a meter reader/installer and later employed by Burlington Foreign Car Parts. He married Carol Ann Broza on July 18, 1964, at St. Peter’s Church and celebrated forty-nine years of marriage.

    Donald was a 1961 graduate of Rutland High School, and proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard as a medic. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and held a lifetime membership in the Rutland Historical Society. He served as past president of the society for two consecutive terms and enjoyed researching, photographing and sharing information on Rutland’s past. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 31, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

    Donald loved life, valued family, travel, education and enjoyed socialization and the friendships of many, many people throughout his life. He was especially fond of spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be loved and remembered by the numerous people he befriended along life’s journey.

    Donald was predeceased by his beloved parents and cherished brother, Stanton Thomas Bordeau, Jr. He is survived by his brother, two sisters and their husbands, Robert Francis Bordeau of Colchester, Vermont, Nancy Ann Bordeau Krupp and husband, John of West Haven, Vermont, and Mary Ellen Bordeau Fortin and husband, Norman of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, along with several nieces and nephews.

    He will be dearly missed by his two children, daughters Dr. Christina Marie Bordeau of Evans Mills, New York, and Pamela Jean Bordeau Forte and husband, Clement (Chip) Forte of Rutland, Vermont, and their children, Clemson Hunter Forte and Alexandra Kathryn Forte; sister-in-law, Bonnie Broza Gallo and husband, Dr. Rodney Gallo of Windham, New Hampshire, and their children, Shilanna Nicole Gallo and Christopher Alibek Gallo.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Rutland. Officiating will be The Reverends Daniel Lokanga and Vincent Coppola. Calling hours will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., preceding the funeral, at Clifford’s Funeral Home on Washington Street, Rutland. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Stratton Road, Rutland. Immediately following the burial, a celebration of Donald’s life will take place at the Rutland American Legion.

    Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford’s Funeral Home in Rutland.

    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Christ the King School, 66 South Main Street, Rutland, VT 05701; or Mount Saint Joseph Academy Development Fund, 127 Convent Avenue, Rutland, VT 05701.
