SPRINGFIELD — William Edward Seaver, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Elm Wood Center in Claremont, N.H.
He was born May 7, 1924, in Wallingford, the son of Raymond G. and Mary A. (Dubeau) Seaver.
He attended schools in Wallingford, and graduated from Wallingford High School, class of 1942. After graduation, he worked at Chane Vought Aircraft in Stratford, Conn.
He served in the United States Army 8th Air Force as a gunner during WWII, and flew in 30 bombing missions.
Following his discharge from the military, he worked for the Ford Motor Co. in Michigan.
He returned to Vermont, and worked as a machinist at Jones and Lamson Machine Tool Company in Springfield, where he was employed for 36 years.
On Oct. 16, 1976, he married Mildred Reynolds in Springfield. She predeceased him on Dec. 16, 2007.
He was a lifetime member of the Springfield BPOE # 1560, and the Robert L. Johnson VFW Post 771.
He was a fan of the New York Yankees fan and the New York Giants. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, traveling and driving the back roads with his dog.
Survivors include a sister, Joan Campbell of Virginia; a step-daughter, Patricia Riviezzo of Charlestown, N.H.; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Gary; two sisters, Charlotte Aines and Thelma Sullivan; and two step-daughters, Lorry Hanus and Sheila Sudant.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Wallingford. The Rev. Justin Baker will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.MORE IN Obituaries
