    62 candidates later,

    no town manager

BRATTLEBORO ó The head of the Select Board in Brattleboro said the board wasnít able to find a new town manager from among the 62 candidates who applied.

The board has been trying to find a new manager since the last one, Barbara Sondag, announced in June that she was leaving.

Chairman David Gartenstein told the Brattleboro Reformer the board held a national search, did initial interviews with six or seven candidates and ultimately had serious discussions with two. But the board wasnít able to reach an agreement.

The final candidates met with a committee of staff members, as well as with the citizens committee that was formed to help the Select Board with the hiring.

Gartenstein said the board is going to put the search process on hold for now.
