MONTPELIER - Officials overseeing the Vermont Health Connect website have confirmed there was a security breach on the system last month in which one user got improper access to another user's data.

Mark Larson, commissioner of the Department of Vermont Health Access, tells The Associated Press that the problem was a one-time incident and that a fix was made to the system soon after it was reported so that it could not be repeated.

Larson's department reported last month to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that a Vermont Health Connect call center was alerted to the problem by a consumer.

The AP got access to the report to CMS after a request under the Vermont Public Records Act.
