• Vt. governor orders flags lowered to honor JFK

    MONTPELIER - Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin is ordering that all flags in the state be lowered to half-staff as part of a Day of Remembrance to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy.

    The order is for the Vermont State House, all federal and state facilities and public buildings and grounds across the state.

    The order took effect at sunrise Friday and will last through sunset on Saturday.
