WATERBURY - Vermont State Police say they're increasing their vigilance this holiday season for impaired drivers and drivers and passengers who are not wearing seat belts.

Police say their efforts reflect two national law enforcement campaigns for traffic safety the Click It or Ticket seat belt promotion effort and Operation CARE -- which stands for combined accident reduction effort.

Vermont has seen 60 traffic fatalities so far this year, and say 15 of the drivers were under the influence of alcohol or other drugs and 23 vehicle occupants were unbelted.
