    MOUNT HOLLY — George C. Covalla Jr., 66, of Mount Holly, VT, died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family after a brief illness.

    He was born August 2, 1947, in Clearfield, PA, to George C. Covalla Sr. and Elizabeth (Waterworth) Covalla.

    He graduated from Bryant College with a B.A. in Business, and was the owner and operator of the Belmont General Store from 1980 to 1986.

    He was a member of several Mount Holly organizations, including the Odd Fellows, Volunteer Fire Department, Planning Commission, and Cemetery Commission, and was an employee of Bennington Furniture in Rutland, VT, at the time of his passing.

    He is survived by his wife, Susan Coldwell Covalla, and his sons, George C. Covalla III of Los Angeles, CA, Derek M. Covalla of Middletown, NY, Kristopher A. Covalla of Mount Holly, VT, and Sean F. Covalla, his wife Laura Covalla, and their son Samuel Covalla of Thetford, VT. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Covalla and his sister-in-law, Susan Covalla of Durham, NC, as well as six nieces and nephews.

    He is predeceased by his parents, George C. Covalla Sr. and Elizabeth (Waterworth) Covalla, and by his brothers, William Covalla and John Covalla.

    A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at the Mount Holly Community Center (below the library) in Belmont, VT, Sunday, December 29, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the following organizations: Mount Holly Library, Mount Holly Volunteer Fire Department, Mount Holly Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mount Holly Ladies Auxiliary, Mount Holly Community Center, or the Mount Holly Odd Fellows.
