    Killington crash

KILLINGTON — High speed and bald tires led to a two-car crash Monday morning, police said.

Police said 19-year-old John Chammat, of Cumberland, R.I., was driving west on Route 4 near the intersection of Route 100, when his 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed the center line and struck a 2011 BMW X5 driven by Claire Anderson, 41, of Rowayton, Conn.

Police said Anderson sustained a possible injury to her hand. Both vehicles sustained what police called significant front-end damage and were towed from the scene.

According to police, Chammat was driving over the speed limit and his rear tires had almost no tread. The crash remains under investigation.
