WILLISTON -- Vermont State Police are warning drivers about backups and delays on snow-covered roads.

Police say the interstates are particularly backed up. They are asking drivers to avoid using the U-turns, which they say is illegal and dangerous.

Larry Dodge with the Vermont Agency of Transportation says about twenty crashes have occurred statewide so far on major roads. Dodge says most accidents were highway median crashes

Dodge is advising drivers to plan on delays and drive slow as roads continue to be snow-covered, including I-89.

Chittenden County Transportation Authority's Meredith Birkett says buses are experiencing approximately 20-minute delays on all routes. Birkett says the delays are "mild" but the "worst it's been" system-wide this season.

The snowy weather is expected to continue throughout Wednesday.
