    POWNAL — Tampatha “Tammy” Walters, 44, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass., following a brief illness.

    She was born Jan. 2, 1970, in Saratoga, N.Y., the daughter of Pamela and Gary Weber, and later, raised by her grandmother, Norma Arthurs.

    Mrs. Walters was a truck driver who traveled across the country for several companies.

    She was also a race car driver (#70) at Glen Ridge Motor Sports, Devil’s Bowl and Fonda Speedway.

    Survivors include her stepfather, Mark Leonard, and stepmother, Rose Weber; her husband, Richard “Rich” Walters, whom she married in 2001; her children, Sara and Samantha George, Stephen, Andrew, Amy and Sammi Walters; a grandson; three sisters, Julie Weber, Sally Baker and Katie Austin; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

    She was predeceased by her parents.

    The prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington, where calling hours will begin at 5 p.m.

    Burial will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Richard Walters, in care of the funeral home.
