antique ski race
KILLINGTON — Pico Mountain will host the 11th annual Vermont Antique Ski Race on Saturday.
Racers are invited to bring their personal antique skis dating from 1930 to 1975 for the event, which will take place on the Lower Pike trail. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at $29 per racer, which includes a $20 donation to Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum, lunch and a commemorative pin. Race entry paired with a lift ticket will be available for $49.
The race will feature four categories: the Woodie Division, comprised of wooden skis from 1930 to the early 1960s, the Metal/Fiberglass Division, from the early 1950s to 1975, Straight Skis, the more common skis prior to the modern parabolic ski and the Strictly Vintage Division, in which participants race not only with antique skis but also antique boots, bindings and poles. Prizes will be awarded in each category. Vintage attire is encouraged.
