BRADENTON, Fla. — Frederick “Dr. Fred” Donald Malone, 65, of Bradenton, FL, passed away March 3, 2014, after a long, courageous battle with leukemia.

Fred was born in Utica, NY, July 1, 1948.

He graduated from Burr & Burton Seminary and continued on to receive an Associate Degree in Psychology from Dean Junior College.

Dr. Fred, in his younger years, worked as a bartender in Manchester, VT, mixing up drinks, music and anecdotes to soothe the soul. With aplomb, he eased away the daily stress of others. Fred later found success in sales and marketing, last working with Cap Creative in Sarasota, FL.

He enjoyed music, especially the blues, reading, crossword puzzles and Sudoku, a bone-dry Stoli Martini, and spending time with family and friends.

Fred is survived by his three children, Dylan of Los Angeles, CA, Marlee of Hancock, VT, and Paige of Burlington, VT; sisters, Judi Copping of Chester, VT, and Kathy Malone of Naramata, BC; brother, Chris Malone of Medicine Hat, Alberta; and parents, Marilyn Egles and Fred S. Malone of Victoria, BC. He leaves as well four nephews and a niece, and special friend, Gay Conway of Sarasota, FL.

The family is planning a celebration of a life gathering for a later date.
