I find it hard to believe that taxpayers are paying for the Vermont Department Department of Health to support a garden program for Vermont Organic Soap Co.

As only 10 of the 27 employees are interested in the garden, it seems unnecessary for the program to receive public support. It would certainly be feasible for the company itself to initiate and fund the program through private donations, but as it stands now, this is a perfect example of a waste of government funds.

Whatever happened to employees coming together and volunteering time and materials to make their own workplace better? After all, they are the ones who will benefit from their own work. The public is not receiving any of the product so the public shouldn’t have to pay for it.
