    PLAINFIELD The Spring Arts Marketing Conference will be held at Goddard College April 22.

    The daylong event, sponsored by the Vermont Crafts Council, will explore national sales trends, social media promotion, and copyright and trademark issues, according to a news release. In addition, participants will have a chance to work with presenters to review business plans, pick up merchandising tricks and tips, and network with colleagues.

    According to the release, keynote presenter Bruce Baker, a nationally known speaker on marketing for craftspeople and artists, will discuss transforming product design, presentation, and marketing to meet the needs of the present economic environment.

    Presenters for afternoon workshops include arts and technology consultant Elissa Campbell, who will give attendees strategies for simplifying and managing their social media promotions; Baker will to delve into pricing and product promotion in a discussion on the business of art; Greg Drew, a longtime sales trainer and current woodworker, will talk about creating a business identity with a unified message, as well as how to be heard above the crowd; and Justin McCabe, an intellectual property attorney with Dunkiel Saunders, will give a presentation on trademark and copyright for visual artists.
