Green Up app new this year
BURLINGTON — For the first time, Green Up Vermont day, which is tomorrow, will have an app for volunteers to use.
The new Green Up VT app will offer volunteers in this year’s 44th annual Green Up Day Vermont the chance to communicate with each other and track the progress of the state-wide clean-up effort, it was announced in a press release issued this week.
“Volunteers can flag areas where hazardous materials are found, identify locations where additional help is needed,” and more, according to the news release on the new app.
The app is free.
Created by Xenon Apps, the new Green Up Vermont app “is designed to help volunteers and the Green Up Vermont nonprofit monitor the progress of the clean-up effort across the state. Participants in the day’s activities are encouraged to use the app to help better determine the impact of this annual volunteer event.”
“We at Green Up Vermont are extremely excited about this new app,” said Melida Vieux, president of Green Up Vermont. “Giving volunteers the capability to track and map their efforts via mobile phone will help move Green Up Day into 21st Century technology.”
