    SOFTBALL

    Springfield 8, Mill River 1

NORTH CLARENDON — Oh those base on balls. Mill River’s Carly Ward gave up four hits, three by KK Haskell, including two doubles, but it was her 10 walks that did in the Minutemen.

Sarah Locke got the win striking out nine over five innings for the Cosmos. Brooke Bove had the only hit for Mill River and scored its lone run on a passed ball. Mill River (3-6) plays at Otter Valley today where the Otters will be dedicating the field to Pattie Candon.

    Springfield improved to 4-3.
