For four years the Fair Haven Energy Committee has been in the process of assessing the feasibility of a low-impact hydroelectric generation facility on existing structures on the Castleton River. Our most recent achievement is the completion of a very detailed report by Jay Boery, PE. Jay is the owner operator of similar projects in northern Vermont, and one of Vermontís top experts on small-scale hydroelectricity. This study is now available, in full, on the town of Fair Haven web page. We hope that all residents and taxpayers take the time to read this study and attend our hearing on the potential project next week.

The committee will be hosting this presentation on the report at the Fair Haven Grade School cafeteria on Tuesday, May 13, at 7 p.m. We highly encourage anyone interested in knowing more about the economic, environmental, and safety implications of this project to attend. The committee, Select Board and town manager hope to speak to, and hear from, as many community members as possible before making many tough decisions.

We hope to see you there,

    MIKE STANNARD

    (Chairman,

    Energy Committee)
