I wish to thank Rutland resident Marilyn Griffith for her letter to the editor of May 8.

I have often thought that we must make Big Pharma carry the cost of rehabilitating those that it has harmed with the abuse of their pain-killing medications.

Indeed, I feel that Big Pharma is highly culpable for the blight of opiate addiction that we now face in our nation. It was with their aggressive marketing campaign aligned with the romancing of physicians and politicians, and outright misrepresentation of their products that brought the addiction problem to the degree that we now see.

These pain-killing drugs made huge profits for these corporations. Itís time that they pay their dues.
