BRATTLEBORO — Vermont state fire inspectors have turned up about $420,000 worth of needed upgrades to the 130-year-old Brattleboro Municipal Center.
The Brattleboro Reformer reported that problems turned up during a state inspection connected with a project to create new quarters for the town police and fire departments.
That project recently was put on hold, but the state Division of Fire Safety said it wants a plan from the town by the end of May on how it will address deficiencies at the municipal center.
The state inspection in late March found nine violations. Among the needed fixes: new fire-rated exit stair enclosures accessible from each floor of the building and extending the sprinkler system into every room.MORE IN This Just In
