BURLINGTON — Burlington police say a man was hospitalized with moderate burns to his arms and upper body after a fire and explosion at a laundromat.

Police received calls about an explosion and a man on fire at a laundromat in the city’s Little Eagle Bay neighborhood.

Authorities say the man, who works for a flooring company, told them he was pouring lacquer thinner on a varnished floor while a nearby dryer was on. The man told police the floor burst into flames and he caught fire. He ran outside and then heard an explosion. He told police he was not smoking while he was working.

    The man was not identified.

Burlington firefighters put out the fire.
