PALM DESERT, Calif. — Pauline Braves Hoffman, 54, of Palm Desert, Calif., a former resident of Rutland, died May 11, 2014, at her home.
She was born November 20, 1959, the daughter of George and Charlotte (Dunn) Braves.
Pauline was a graduate of Rutland High School class of 1977. In 1981, she earned her BA from Trinity College in Burlington, Vt. On September 10, 1988, Pauline married Marc Hoffman and they had two sons, Stephen and Michael. Over the next 20 years, they lived in many locations across the United States, including upstate New York, North Carolina, Los Angeles, Arizona, and eventually settled in Saratoga, Calif.
After starting her career in accounting, Pauline’s professional passion was decorating. Pauline started her own home interior business and impressed many clients with her work. She was known for bringing a loving and simple look to each room she helped design.
Outside of working, Pauline enjoyed art, gardening, reading, and exercising. Her biggest joy was seeing her sons grow up and watching their many activities. Pauline also found great satisfaction in being involved with her church near her home in Palm Desert. Surviving are two sons, Stephen Hoffman of San Francisco, Calif., and Michael Hoffman of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Diane Braves Sante of Queensbury, N.Y., and Susan Levancier of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Christopher G. Braves of Richmond, Vt., an aunt, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Rutland. Officiating will be the Rev. Justin Baker, pastor. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with a reception to follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
