I urge all those readers who travel to and from West Rutland, using the railroad crossing by Nuttings, to give thanks to whoever was in charge of replacing these tracks this past week. I’m told that Vermont Railway was responsible for the dramatic change. We have had a few of the so-called Band-Aid repairs, but finally it looks and feels like this will be a permanent replacement for many years.

Also, on the south side of the Route 4 west, from these tracks to Ripley Road is undergoing a welcome change. The whole area has had a great digging of boulders and “scrub” trees, and new holes are ready for placing of new trees.

What a welcome site for the approach to the city. I’m told that Mr. Schneider is the person, along with many volunteers and Green Mountain Power in making this happen.

    Please convey thanks and appreciation.
